DNA Project Rules

1. This is an International Project which welcomes Cloud families from all parts of the world.
2. The Project’s purpose is to aid in finding the paternal lineages of the Cloud family.
3. The Project is open to anyone who believes he or she is a descendant of a Cloud family line.
4. The Y-DNA portion of the Project is open to any male who believes he is the direct male descendant of a Cloud family line. Y-DNA requires there be no women in the lineage back to the male Cloud ancestor.
   1. It is not necessary to prove this lineage (though proven pedigrees add great value to the Project).
   2. It is not necessary to have the CLOUD surname (but must be a descendant of that surname).
5. Membership in the Cloud Family Association is not required to participate in the Project.
6. The participant must submit a pedigree of his or her Cloud lineage.
   1. This is necessary as DNA doesn’t stand alone, it must be used with traditional genealogy research methods and a pedigree helps with that.
   2. Proofs, if available, should be submitted with the pedigree.
   3. Questionable generations must be noted.
7. The participant, or a representative, must submit his DNA sample to Family Tree DNA using the name of the Cloud Project (click on the “Registration” link).

• * Anyone descended from a Cloud family can join the Project.
• Participation is not restricted to Cloud Family Association members.
• * The Y-STR CLOUD Surname Project can only use data from men who are a descendant through the male-only line of a CLOUD male ancestor.
• Your pedigree is required to facilitate comparison and analysis of your data.
